Findlay Fridays

It was another extremely busy week over here, but, as always, Findlay was endlessly adorable and hilarious... For example, he woke me up twice by laying on my face and licking my hair. I guess he doesn't approve of bed head!

Crystal Crescent

I cannot even begin to describe how happy I am that the weather has gotten warmer and sunnier. I just want to be outside as much as possible! Yesterday, we went to Crystal Crescent Beach, and it could not have been a more beautiful day. I'm so lucky to live in such a beautiful province with so many incredible beaches.

Easter baking

This long weekend has been fantastic. I've been spending a lot of time working on lesson plans, but I also got to do a bit of baking! And we got to go to the farmer's market! And the beach! I'll post photos of that later.

I made Aaron's favourite banana muffins as a surprise for breakfast. We took some muffins with us to the beach with our friend Shenky. Then all three of us came back to our house and had raspberry walnut chicken for dinner, and the tres leches cake I had made earlier. Tres leches cakes are my favourite. The version I made is slightly adapted from this recipe.  It was glorious: light and fluffy but super moist, and packed with fresh berries. It was excellent.

Findlay Fridays

This week was extremely busy, but also (mostly) fantastic. Phoenix went home with my cousin. They were both very excited to see each other, but Findlay and I were sad to see her go. I miss her! In the photo above, her and Findlay had pulled down some curtains, and she immediately fell asleep on top of them. While I was annoyed about the curtains, it was seriously adorable. Aaron came home the same night Phoenix left, and I was so happy to see him! Findlay spent the next couple of days either wandering around looking for Phoenix, or following Aaron around. The first photo of this post was featured on Cats of Instagram this week, so that was awesome. Have a fantastic Easter weekend, friends!

Melbourne

I love Melbourne. It's one of the best cities I've ever been to. The whole city has this infectious vibe that makes you feel both energized but totally content and relaxed at the same time. I loved the graffitied alley ways, the gorgeous Yarra River dotted with rowers, and the exquisite restaurants. One of our first stops was the Vic Market. I know I have mentioned my love of markets before, and I must say, Vic Market is one of the coolest markets we've visited. In addition to eating some fantastic food, gazing longingly at adorable mini cactus, and shopping for Uggs, we bought some avocados while there to bring back with us! We got to see a couple acts of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival while wandering around the city. All the food we ate was fantastic. I don't know what it is about food in Australia, maybe it's the quality of the produce, but it is the best. And the coffee! I wish I could always drink Australian lattes. We LOVED Sensory Lab, which is where the lattes pictured below are from. While there, I was too in love with everything to really remember to take photos, but here are a couple!

Mornington Peninsula snap shots

Photos from our last few days spent in paradise (also known as the Mornington Peninsula) before we went to Melbourne, which is one of my favourite cities in the world. Even though it appears as though spring has arrived here in Halifax, I am still dreaming of those sun drenched autumn days at the beach in Victoria.
