Autumn at the Farmer's Market

I love fall at the Halifax Seaport Farmer's Market. It's fun and crowded, full of delicious, savory smells, musicians around every corner, and the all of the produce is so bright and colourful. I love going to the market all year, but I think autumn is my favourite time of year to go.

Dinner

All the fresh produce in the summer makes cooking dinner a lot more fun.

Summer market days

Summertime at the Halifax Seaport Farmer's Market is a magical thing. You can have your breakfast on the incredible rooftop patio while gazing at the stunning views of the harbour, there are more and more vendors set up outside, and you can walk across the street to Garrison Brewery and enjoy their fantastic beers on the patio, rather than just inside. But my favourite part about the Market in the summer is that you are surrounded by a riot of colourful rainbow produce. And this produce can lead to you creating the most delicious summer foods, like the beautiful salad my friend Kaarina made: local micro greens and nasturtium with raspberries and sweet roasted pumpkin seeds. There is really no better place to be than Halifax in the summertime, and Saturdays mornings at the market make summer even delightful. You can read my previous posts about my love for the Halifax Seaport Farmer's Market here.

Aaron's first weekend in Albuquerque!

Aaron being in Albuquerque is amazing. We have been having the best time! He arrived at 2:00 am Albuquerque time on Saturday morning (5:00 am Halifax time). After sleeping for most of the morning, we went for a long swim in the pool, followed by an adventure in the mountains! We drove up to the East Side of the Mountains for a picnic, then continued on to the crest. From there, we hiked along the top of the Sandia Mountains, at about 11,000 feet above sea level, to the Tram House. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and it was a perfect place to enjoy the summer solstice. Sunday we spend at the Rail Yards Market, and had incredible huevos rancheros from one of the food trucks and looking at all the wonderful local products and produce. We also swung by the Rio Grande and Tingley Beach while we were in the area! It was pretty much the greatest weekend ever. I love showing Aaron around, and he has really loved everything so far, especially the food. Every single meal he has eaten here has had green chile in it!

Rail Yards Market

I have mention both my love of markets and love of the Albuquerque Rail Yards before, and today, I finally got to visit the Rail Yards Market! It is such a fantastic thing the community is doing: reclaiming such a fantastic, historical building, and turning it into a fun, local market. There is live music and performances, as well as fantastic food, local produce, and local crafts and art. I can't wait to bring Aaron here next Sunday. The Market is open Sundays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Make sure to check it out if you are ever in Albuquerque!
